Create with Scissors!!

Monday Monday.... and the start of the week! I hope everyone is doing well this morning! It's Emily here, to share this weeks project which I created with products from the Your Memories Here Store

Once again, today I have used some Prima goodies! Your Memories Here is full of them! I used Prima papers and flowers to decorate this pair of wooden scissors. I wanted something for my studio, and these were perfect!

I covered the scissors with the Prima paper using Mod Podge. After the adhesive dried, I used my craft knife to cut off the excess paper. I used sandpaper to distress the edges of the scissors and then used Distress Ink on the edges. I then sprayed Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist over the paper and let it dry. After the mist had dried I added my Prima flowers, ribbon and the American Crafts Thickers.

Easy peasy! And it looks really good in my basement studio!

Be sure to come back next Monday... I'm working on something using some SEI goodies!!!

Welcome to the Nest

Hey crafty peeps! This week, this sweet little LO is a gift I was commissioned to do for a friend's newborn nephew...isn't he cutie?!! She's gonna frame this up later today & I can't wait to see how it looks. I loved doing this LO! It was so much fun, especially since I rarely get to do those sweet little baby LO's. It was a blast mixing & matching so many neat products...most of which you can find HERE at the YMH Store!

Patterned Paper - Pebbles, Inc., Prima packaging, GCD Studios, Jillibean Soup, Pink Paislee
Cardstock - Tattered Angels (black - from Spooky Findings kit), Close to My Heart (white)
Cardstock Sticker Border/Tiny Type - Cosmo Cricket
Lace/Rhinestones - Prima
Punch - Martha Stewart, Stampin' Up
Ink - Tim Holtz Distress Ink (walnut stain)
Diecuts - Cricut Jasmine Cartridge (title), Cricut Hoot 'n' Holler Cartridge (branch & leaves)
Chipboard - Top Line Creations

I created the photo corners by using a border punch & then folding them to create the fancy corner. I love how they turned out & that they make the cutie baby photos stand out a little more. If you would like more info., check out my blog HERE...I'd love it if you'd visit! And, don't forget to visit the YMH Store too. It is filled to the brim with amazing goodies at awesome prices! Purple Goodness

So my mojo has been struggling this week since my mind has been focused on the state test my students will be taking for my class next week and a little shopping spree I'll get to do soon. I started looking at some challenges to help me and came across several on flowers and purple. Well, that is just up my ally as I've been wanting to play with some of my Prima Hydranga flowers and of course my TA Glimmer Mists. I sprayed one of the flowers with some Purple Pansy and used the over spray to paint one of the little Prima white flowers. I painted two other Hydranga flowers with Chandelier Glitter Glam and even coated the littlest flower with it for extra glitz. I then used two Prima leaves to help anchor the flower as well as to help it stand out from the background. These flowers and the mist can all be found at YMH. The lighter purple in the background was embossed with a brick folder from the Tim Holtz line and the image is from Verve. What a great pick-me-up or just because card for a friend.

A Bit of Spring

Hi Everyone.

A few weeks ago, Punxsutawney Phil popped out of his hole and declared that spring was on its way.  Well, not here.   Last week, it was cold, and rainy, and completely icky outside.  I decided to brighten my day by creating a bit of sunshine for my home.

I found these little birdhouses in the wood section of my local Michaels store.  With just a few scraps of beautiful papers (including some gorgeous Prima), bits of ribbon, lace, and of course a few Prima flowers, and  bling, I was able to create a fun little home decor project to brighten up my home.

I started by using some Tattered Angels glimmer mist on the base of the houses. Your Memories Here has great mists to match your paper, and it is so much easier than trying to paint the little houses.   Then cut the papers to size.

I added bits of trim

some flowers and bling
And I was finished.

These little houses really brighten my day when I walk by them.  I hope they brighten your's as well.

Make a Wish - Altered box with Prima Goodies!

Good morning! Em here with a new creation using some products from the Your Memories Here Store. I definitely went all out with Prima for this one! I couldn't help it!

I have had this old, wooden cigar box lying around forever it seems. I never really knew what to make out of it for the longest time. After recently getting more into altering projects, I knew what I would make. I have always wanted to have a box where I could put my wishes. Slightly childish, I know, but it would be my secret place to write down all of the things I want for myself, not just physical items, but things I want to get out of my life. I can write them down and tuck them away in the box for a later time. Maybe then the wish will come true. Who knows. I just like the thought of it!

So, using some lovely Prima goodies, I decorated the box! I first had to paint the box though. I used some White Gesso to prime the box. I used three layers total. After, I sealed it with Mod Podge. When that had dried, I took clear Crackle paint and covered the outside of the box.

For the top of the box, I cut some Prima paper down and adhered it to the top with Mod Podge. I cut some butterflies from another sheet of Prima paper and applied them with my glue gun so that they would stay. I also added some of the latest Prima flowers that I received in my Winter 2011 CHA Prima Grab Bag. These flowers are gorgeous! I placed a Maya Road hat pin behind one of the flowers and used some American Crafts Thickers for the word "Wishes."

You can see how I only adhered the center of the butterflies so that they have some dimension. I love doing this! It makes them look so real. You can also see the Prima Trim that I adhered around the outside of the box on all sides and front. (there is nothing on the back) I found I didn't have enough of this trim though, so I placed two white Prima Flowers on the side corners near the front to cover up my little measuring mistake. :)

On the front of the box, under the clasp, I attached a Marious Smith Prima Vintage trinklet. These are also a new release that you can find in the Grab Bag. I did have to use my wire cutters to cut the top of the trinklet so I could wrap it around the bottom part of the clasp. I then used my glue gun to adhere it securely to the box. I really like how it looks!

I even added a cut out butterfly to the flowers on the op of the box. Those flowers are VERY soft!

For the inside of the box, I cut out pieces from the same paper I used for the top of the box, and adhered it to the inside of the box, both top and bottom. I then embellished the insides with some new Prima flowers and  crystal swirls. The trim is Prima trim that I had in my Steel Toe Mary Janes Prima kit from the store.

These flowers are so so pretty! It was very hard to open the package and use them, but I kept reminding myself this was for a great cause!

If you look closely, you can see the flowers have a glimmer to them. That is because after I applied all of my flowers, I used some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze in Icicle. This is the first time I have ever used the Glimmer Glaze, and it is AWESOME. It took me a little bit to get used to using the little brush instead of just misting my product, but the look is fabulous once you finish!!! Totally worth it. :)

For the bottom half's flowers I used some more Prima Essential flowers in the tube. These flowers, if you have never used them are great for creating your own layered flowers with your own centers. I used some of the Prima Pearls and Crystals in Ice as centers for my flowers. I also used some of the Glimmer Glaze on these as well. A very small amount though.

A closeup of the flowers from the bottom part of the box.

After all of my box was decorated, I applied a coat of the Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze in Champagne for a little shimmer and shine. It also toned down the bright white of the Gesso.

I hope you have enjoyed my project for the day and seeing all of the lovely goodies that you can find in the YMH Store!! I'll see you next Monday!!!

I've linked the products from the store used throughout my post. :)

Together is Happiness...

I am in LOVE...with Cosmo Cricket's Sugar Rush Collection!!! Oh my goodness it is fabulous & makes my little heart skip a beat! I was so excited when I get this fab kit in the mail from Your Memories Here & had whipped up this LO within hours of receiving it. I am so blessed to be on the YMH DT & Kristina, the owner, is so super awesome! You must, must, must check out her store for amazing deals. This Cosmo Cricket kit can be found HERE & is only, get this, $10!!! Yes, $10! And not only that, but you have two versions of this Sugar Rush Kit to choose from. So get your buns over there while she still has some stock...they are definitely gonna sell out soon!

Another reason I love this layout is because it partially features our ROCKIN' cousin, Shane. Shane & I did some major goofing off for the camera on New Year's Eve & the photos really represent the fun we have together. He is such a big part of our family...one of our youngest cousins on my hubby's side, he is more like our son. He calls us Mom & Dad, and despite the fact that he lives over 5 hours away from us in Texas, we drive down to get him every chance we get. He is a freshman in college this year, is majoring in aviation mechanics, & is pulling straight A's. We are sooooo proud of him! Really lookin' forward to him coming up to visit us for spring break, too! And yes, in case you are wondering, he does have parents ( & they are awesome too!) but he is so much like my hubby it is eerie...hence his nickname, Little Jethro.

White Cardstock - Close to my Heart
Punch - Martha Stewart
Ribbon/Adhesives - Stash

Thanks so much for stopping by & letting me share my LO with y'all! I had so much creating it & have so much product left to play with...so get ready for the Cosmo Cricket craziness that is gonna hit! LOL! I would love it if you wanted to visit my blog HERE, too! Also, make sure to check out the YMH Store. Trust me, you DO NOT want to miss out on the Cosmo Cricket Sugar Rush kit. Plus, there are so many new products coming in from Prima it's almost overwhelming, but super exciting too! There is always a sale going on & the pricing is fabulous...you'll love it! Happy Craftin'!

Butterfly Tin

Another quick post as I am getting ready for my son's 5th birthday party. He's been sick all week, but Thursday he began the road of recovery and Friday was a great day so the party is ON. He is so excited about it too.

Have ya'll seen these amazing butterflies from Prima? I've seen them but was ever really sure what you can do with them and then it hit me: alter something with them. I've had some of these little tins around for several years and thought it would be the perfect thing to showcase these amazing butterflies from Prima that you can get at YMH. The paper is just some that I had laying around. I just wrapped it around the tin taping it down with scortape. I love how the butterfly takes up the rest of the space so that this can be a quick little gift for someone. I'm now thinking about what I would like to put on the inside. I've got some ideas, but before I share them I have to first see if I can get it together. Who knows, maybe it'll be another post...

A Quick Photo Frame

Hi, Nancy here with a quick home decor project to share.

My sister was coming over for a visit this last weekend, and since she has been terribly busy I thought it would be nice to make her a little something.  She isn't much of a photographer or crafter, and I have taken so many photos of her darling daughter, I thought it would be fun to make her a photo frame she could put a photo in.

Having picked up a package of three simple white frames at Target in the Dollar Spot a while ago, I simply added a few Prima Sprites (which happen to be on sale right now) and a bit of bling from the Your Memories Here store, and had a much more personalized frame to gift.

She hasn't selected the photo yet, so this is still the stock photo that came in the frame.  LOL

This was a super simple project to create and I am very happy with how it turned out.  Now if I can only get her to choose a photo.

Make Your Own T Shirts

Hey everyone! It's another quick, last minute Tuesday post for me. This project took only 10 minutes to complete - seriously!
I wanted to share with you a couple of T Shirts I made for my girls using my Cricut machine.

How do you use a Cricut to make T Shirts (I know you're thinking)? Well, I used one of the great images from the Wall Decor cartridge, the crown, and cut it out of a piece of freezer paper, yep that stuff you buy in the grocery store next to the aluminum foil and wax paper.
That becomes your stencil. Then you simply iron it onto your shirt - shiny side down and it adheres itself into place (but only temporarily) Using your favorite fabric paint or as I used fabric glue and glitter (Tulip Brand - made to be machine washed) apply it to your design. When you're done, just peel up the paper and voila! A custom T shirt.
Here are my lovely assistant's modeling their new fashions:

We still have some Cricut products left in stock at Your Memories Here, but they are clearance priced and once they are gone that's it!

I'll be back again on Friday for our Weekly Steal :)

The Family Photo

Happy Monday AND Happy Valentine's Day to all of the YMH blog fans! This is Emily with another project using some products that you can find in the YMH store. I hope you are all enjoying this Valentine's Day with your loved ones. I went out for sushi this weekend with my boyfriend. We had a great time... except I really need practice using those chopsticks. I saw kids my son's age at the restaurant who could work the chopsticks better than me! I am going to buy a pair just so I can practice!

For today's project, I have a wall hanging that I created for our house. We took a family photo this past Christmas, and I really love how it turned out. We don't have many photos of all of us together, so I really wanted to do something special with it. And since I am a scrapbooker, and you all understand this, we can't just put our photos in a basic frame! We have to fancy up our photos!

For the hanging I took two 8x8 clipboard Bind it All covers and covered them with some patterned papers. I used my Bind it All to punch holes in the bottom of one of the covers and the top of the other so that I could use some ribbon and put them together. I added our family photo and used some Prima Trim around the photo as a cute frame.

After framing the photo with the lace trim, I added some embellishments such as more Prima Flowers, and Prima Mini Roses in the corner.

A closeup of the flowers and the trim....

After completing the top half of the hanging with a few more embellishments and some Thickers for the word Family, I decorated the bottom half. Of course I added more Prima flowers, and even some Prima Say it in Crystals swirls.  I found a perfect quote on family and added it as well. I used Distress Ink on the quote so that it would blend with the other colors in the project.

After everything was added, I applied a generous amount of Tattered Angel's Glimmer Mist in Pearl to the entire project to give it some shimmer and sparkle!

I hope you have enjoyed my project for the day and I'll see you next Monday with another project for Your Memories Here!!

Shabby Flower Tutorial & a Winter Wreath

It's a beautiful Sunday in my neck of the woods today & I hope it is where you are also! For the past several weeks we have been dealing with A LOT of snow & I am so very glad to see it warming up...we are even supposed to get into the mid 70's later this week - yay! However, it's still technically winter so I wanted to share a winter themed wreath I whipped up for the YMH DT this week. I'm also gonna share with you a lil' tutorial on how to make these gorgeous shabby flowers as well. So get ready for some fun...& a kind of lengthy post!

I have been noticing a lot of these yarn wreaths in the blogosphere lately & wanted to try my hand at one. I had this gray yarn sitting around for a scarf I was gonna make for our fur baby (yes, doggies need scarves too!) & decided to use it. I picked up the 12" foam wreath form for a buck at my local $ Tree & that is pretty much all that this wreath cost me since I had all the other items on hand...cool, huh?! All of the paper I used was leftover from other YMH projects...a perfect project for scraps! A gal can never go wrong with cheap, fabulous home decor!! To make the wreath, I simply wrapped yarn around the wreath frame, making sure to keep it taut, & secured it at the end. Very simple. I did use my Tattered Angels glimmer mist to dye the Prima lace that lovely shade of orange & that tulle, which was recycled from a past gift, used to be a crisp white until I made it that fab grungy color, again using my much loved & adored glimmer mists!

The inspiration for the handmade shabby flowers came when I stumbled upon this blog HERE. It was totally by accident that I discovered Irene's blog & that the first post I seen was for these gorgeous flowers! I came up with my own little tutorial to share with you crafty peeps, but do take the time to visit Irene's blog HERE...you will definitely be glad you did because she has some awesome ideas!

Step 1 - Cut 8, 3" circles out of double sided patterned paper ( i went ahead & distressed mine in the pic & for some of the flowers I also used 2" circles.)

Step 2 - Layer them, poke a hole in the center, & add a brad (you won't see it so any will do!)

Step 3 - In the sink, starting w/the 1st layer, wet the paper & begin to crumple it. Work from the top to the bottom until you get it all ruffly & tight..just like a flower bud.

Step 4 - Now that it is all crumpled, let it dry for a bit, at least a 1/2 hour or so.

Step 5 - Now that it has dried a bit, start to shape the flower very carefully by unfolding some of the layers until you achieve the effect you want. Now, you get to let it dry some more!

Step 6 - Once it is dry, which will take a full 24 hours, you can add some glimmer mist to accent those gorgeous layers you've got going on. It should be noted I went ahead & sprayed on my glimmer mist while the flowers were still wet. I figured since they were already wet, why add more drying time! It worked like a charm, but I definitely recommend making these flowers at least 1 day in  advance of a project. Definitely not a last minute embellishment due to the length of drying time & patience required! Also, trying to speed up the drying time using a hairdryer doesn't really work too well. I tried it & failed so you don't have too...LOL!! All the flowers were attached with a hot glue gun as well...those babies aren't goin' anywhere! ;)

YMH Supplies
Patterned Paper/Crystals/Lace - Prima
Glimmer Mist & Glimmer Glam - Tattered Angels (orange, fall breeze, & sand)
Additional Patterned Paper - SEI & Pebbles, Inc.

I have to admit, I just LOVE how these flowers turned out! I can't wait to make some more of these because they really were simple & would look beautiful on some cards or layouts. If you'd like a lil' more info & photos, check out my blog HERE. And if you want to get some of the items I used in my wreath, simply visit the YMH Store! There are some gorgeous Prima, Tattered Angels, SEI & Pebbles, Inc. products there for you to check out. Plus, there is always a sale going & more new goodies coming in every day... especially since so much fun stuff was just released at CHA! Until then, Happy Craftin'!!!!

Non-traditional color for LOVE

With Valentine right around the corner I thought I would create a Valentine for ya'll in non-traditional colors. I used some of my paper left over from a Live w/Prima kit, bling, and a Prima flower (all from YMH). I love how the purple flower just pops off of the card. I stamped the swirl with a clear stamp from Inkadinkadoo and then added some bling that had been colored with a copic to match the browns used to give it a subtle glam. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the border and sponged everything with some Distress Ink (antique linen and vintage photo).
